Honda has decided to call back thousands of 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid vehicles over an electrical issue that could lead to fires. According to the company, the recall affects certain vehicles manufactured from October 2019 to October 2020.
The issue lies within the battery cooling system of the recalled vehicles. When too much voltage passes through, the system may heat up and eventually start a fire. Honda says that this is a “rare” occurrence and that the majority of owners should not experience any extreme issues.
Honda has stated that owners will be alerted via an official recall notice. The company believes that four thousand vehicles are affected by the recall, though this has not yet been confirmed.
Honda is asking owners of affected vehicles to contact a Honda dealer immediately. The company will arrange for a technician to inspect the vehicle’s battery and cooling system, and make any necessary repairs or replacements at no cost.
