Recently, a well-known Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutor, Jeff Jensen, was accused of limiting the scope of questioning during the investigation of Hunter Biden. Jensen, who was appointed by Attorney General William Barr, was accused of preventing any questions to Hunter Biden regarding potential abuse of power and foreign influence.
The accusations against Jensen prompted an outcry from both House Democrats and Republicans, who expressed their displeasure and demanded answers from the DOJ. As a result, a federal judge has now ordered Jensen to appear for a deposition, where he will be required to answer questions and provide documents to answer the allegations. Unfortunately, the exact date of Jensen’s deposition has not been set yet.
Jensen’s involvement in the Hunter Biden investigation has raised questions over the impartiality of the probe. Barr himself has faced criticism for not stepping in and stopping Jensen’s potentially inappropriate conduct. There are also claims that Barr has been using Jensen to interfere with the investigation.
Prior to being brought in to oversee the Hunter Biden probe, Jensen made his name as a federal prosecutor in Missouri, taking on some of the highest-profile cases. He also played a key role in the investigation of former Missouri governor Eric Greitens.
Despite the DOJ’s objections, the federal judge who ordered Jensen’s deposition believes the motion is necessary to understand the potential interference with the investigation into Hunter Biden. If it turns out that interference took place, there could be serious consequences for the DOJ and the involved parties.
At this point, it is not clear what exactly happened within the DOJ during the investigation into Hunter Biden. However, the questions surrounding Jensen’s role are likely to be answered once he appears for the deposition. Until then, the discussion surrounding the probe will remain in the spotlight.
